Black Ops 6 'Shattered Veil' Easter Egg Guide & Rewards: The Ultimate Walkthrough
The haunting Shattered Veil DLC has finally arrived with Season 3 of Black Ops 6, taking players into the mysterious Mansion where Edward Richtofen has established his base of operations. This comprehensive guide will walk you through every step of the main Easter Egg quest, from accessing the mansion to defeating the terrifying Z-REX boss. We've compiled the most efficient strategies to help you unlock the exclusive "PhDeadly" Operator Skin and other rewards.
Step 1: Gain Access to the Mansion
Your journey begins with reaching the Mansion itself. There are two distinct paths you can take, each offering different perks and intel collectibles. Once you've made your choice, proceed to the main entrance to begin the next phase of the Easter Egg.
Step 2: Repair the Elevator
Collect Fuse #1
Your first objective is to locate a special zombie wearing a maintenance worker outfit. This highlighted zombie will appear during the early rounds and can be identified by its unique clothing. Eliminate this zombie to collect your first essential component: a fuse that will be crucial for powering the elevator.
Collect Fuse #2
For the second component, head to Richtofen's bedroom to find his main computer. You'll need to destroy this computer by shooting it until it breaks down. Once destroyed, it will drop a circuit board that functions as your second fuse component. Make sure to collect it before proceeding to the next stage.
Install Components & Activate Elevator
With both components in hand, make your way to the elevator. Go to the rear of the elevator and locate the panel that needs repair. Install both the fuse and circuit board to fix the elevator control system. Once repaired, activate the elevator to call it to your floor. Be prepared for an immediate zombie horde that will rush out when the doors open. After clearing the area, rappel down the elevator shaft to reach the room containing S.A.M.
Step 3: Obtain All Ray Gun Mark 2 Variants
The next crucial step involves acquiring all three Ray Gun Mark 2 variants. Each variant has a specific purpose in the Easter Egg and will be required for different ritual steps. These powerful weapons will also prove essential for the final boss fight.
Painting #1: Josiah Shem
The first painting is located near the elevator and depicts Josiah Shem. Using the Ray Gun Mark 2 - P variant, eliminate zombies near the computer tower adjacent to the painting. Once charged, a portal will materialize, providing access to a hidden room. Inside this room, locate and collect a ritual vial from the central table. This will be needed for a later ritual.
Painting #2: Colton
Find the painting of Colton within the study area. Similar to the previous step, interact with the nearby computer and eliminate zombies using the Ray Gun Mark 2 - R variant. Once fully charged, the painting will reveal another secret room behind it.
Painting #3: Hidden Wall Painting
The third painting requires some preliminary steps. In the main hall of the Mansion, notice a missing lamp on one of the walls. Locate a replacement lamp inside a box near the elevator area. Return to the main hall and install the lamp in its designated spot. This will activate a Simon Says mini-game. Complete the sequence to reveal a secret passage leading downward. Inside, interact with the machine beside the hidden painting and kill zombies using the Ray Gun Mark 2 - W variant to charge it.
After completing each painting's activation sequence, spectral entities representing each individual from the portraits will manifest in their respective rooms. These ghostly apparitions are integral to the next phase.
Step 4: Collect Ritual Items
Ritual Item #1: Flask
For the first ritual item, you'll need the Brain Rot ammo modification. Find a bell in the hallway adjacent to the Elemental Pop perk machine. Carry this bell to the bar located on the upper floor of the Main Foyer (the area containing the T-REX skeleton). Place the bell on the counter, then use Brain Rot to convert a nearby zombie. Ring the bell to attract the converted zombie, which will move behind the counter and drink from a flask. When the zombie is eliminated, it will drop the flask - your first ritual item. Take this flask to the room behind the painting in the cellar area.
Place the Sentinel Artifact on the pedestal to initiate a lockdown sequence featuring a Mangler enemy. This special Mangler is protected by a force field that can only be disabled using the Ray Gun Mark 2 - W (blue variant). Once vulnerable, eliminate the Mangler to allow its spirit to be absorbed into the Sentinel Artifact. Retrieve the artifact to continue.
Ritual Item #2: Nuclear Plans
The second ritual item requires the Aether Shroud field upgrade. While Aether Shroud is active, search for three glowing objects near Colton's painting in the study. These items can appear in various locations in the surrounding rooms. If your Aether Shroud expires before collecting all three, the items will remain briefly visible, allowing you to still grab them.
After collecting all three items, enter the portal through Colton's painting and locate three books displaying Chaos symbols. Return to the real world and find these same books, but remember that the painting world is mirrored - what appears on the left in the painting world will be on the right in the real world. Interact with the books in the correct sequence (left to right in the real world) to reveal a hidden chamber containing the nuclear plans.
Take the plans into Colton's painting portal and place them on the pedestal to trigger another lockdown. This time, you'll face an Amalgam enemy that can only be damaged using the Ray Gun Mark 2 - R (yellow variant). Defeat the Amalgam to allow its ghost to be absorbed into the Sentinel Artifact.
Ritual Item #3: Safe Contents
Your previous actions will have activated three chalices located throughout the map. These can be found in the following locations:
- The Spawn area
- The Foyer balcony above the entrance door
- The Bottlery, next to wine glasses
Collecting each chalice will spawn an Elder Disciple that must be eliminated immediately to prevent complications. After gathering all three chalices, locate three numbers written in blood around the elevator in Josiah Shem's room. This combination unlocks a safe in the West Hallways containing the final ritual item.
Take this item through the pink portal (Josiah Shem's) and place it on the pedestal for the final ritual lockdown. A powerful Disciple will appear, requiring the Ray Gun Mark 2 - P to break through its shield and defeat it. Once vanquished, Shem's essence will be absorbed into the Sentinel Artifact, completing its power.
Step 5: The Z-REX Boss Fight
With the fully-powered Sentinel Artifact in hand, return to S.A.M. and surrender the artifact. An unexpected twist reveals S.A.M.'s true intentions differ from your own, but you'll be transported to a room containing Richtofen. After a dramatic cutscene, you'll face the ultimate challenge: the Z-REX Boss Fight, bringing the T-REX skeleton from the main hall to terrifying life.
Boss Fight Strategy
The Z-REX has several critical weak points that should be your primary targets:
- Its glowing eyes
- The exposed heart in its abdomen
- Inside its mouth during roaring animations
For this fight, Tier 3 Pack-A-Punched weapons are essential, with the Ray Gun Mark 2 - W being particularly effective. Crowd control equipment such as the Wunderwaffe, Gersch Devices, or Monkey Bombs will help manage zombie hordes during the fight. GobbleGums like Idle Eyes, Reign Drops, or Near Death Experience (for co-op) can provide crucial advantages. Scorestreaks such as the Chopper Gunner can also provide valuable support.
The battle progresses through three distinct phases. When sufficiently damaged, the Z-REX will retreat to a cliff overlooking the arena, raining down acid that creates toxic zones on the ground. These areas will significantly impede health regeneration, so maintain awareness of your positioning. Be prepared for when the Z-REX leaps back into the arena to resume its direct assault.
Continue focusing fire on the critical points until the Z-REX's health is depleted. This completes the main Easter Egg quest, triggering the final cutscene. You'll then have the option to either exit or return to the game to collect additional rewards including Tier 3 Pack-A-Punch Crystals, a Ray Gun Mark 1, Epic Aether Tools, points, salvage, and a free Perkaholic.
